This is not your usual erotica, romance or happy ending these characters are dark, unconventional and complicated, yet, at total ease with their convictions. “Not two persons ever read the same book – Edmund Wilson”įor me, this was a psychological thriller an enthralling but foreboding and uncomfortable ride to a place where I was happy to be on the outside looking in, nevertheless while reading/listening, Tiffany Reisz brilliantly makes you experience this world without holding back, and skillfully manipulates the reader into getting a closer look inside this world and its characters – masterfully created, I might add. In 2011 my favorite audiobook of the year was the YA novel, Anna and the French Kiss – a sweet, lovely, and make you feel good-all- around story, but it looks like for 2012, I’m going with a complete different choice, because The Siren, with all its darkness, pain, uneasiness and totally uncharacteristic elements in a romance (erotic) novel, it’s the best book I have read/listened to this year thus far. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple. Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits.
